O God, our help in ages past…

Posted on October 23, 2014 in category: Announcements

This has been a difficult week for us as Canadians. We struggle to make sense of the hatred and violence that runs rampant in our world. This week it also became very clear that such violence can take place right here in our home country, even in our Parliament buildings.

Our prayers are with those most directly affected, with the families and friends of the two Canadian soldiers killed this week, and with everyone who is struggling with anger, fear, or grief in the aftermath of these events.

If you are in Saskatoon this weekend, please come and pray with us at St. Andrew’s on Sunday morning at 11:00 am. Let us place our hope and our trust in the God of our ancestors, the God we have come to know as love embodied in Jesus Christ, the God who by the power of the Holy Spirit will comfort and encourage us in the midst of any troubles or trials.

“O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come,
still be our guard while troubles last, and our eternal home.”
(Isaac Watts, 1674-1748)
