November at St. Andrew’s
Please take note of the following announcements, and mark your calendar with the upcoming dates.
Thank You to Everyone who participated in the Blanket and Warm Clothing Drive in October. The barrel was filled to overflowing three times over the course of the month, and although it isn’t really cold yet, we all know that it is coming…probably soon. If you weren’t able to get your clothing to the church in time, don’t worry. The barrel will be left in the church entranceway for another couple of weeks.
Meet Me in Malawi on November 5th! On the first Sunday of each month at our Share and Prayer Services at 9:30 am, we are “meeting” in a different country. This Sunday, November 5th we will meet in Malawi with Hastings Nyekanyeka. Share and Prayer Services are casual, participatory, and open to people of all ages, including children. Use the parking lot side door with the “Church Office” sign, and come downstairs to the lower hall. Arrive early, grab a coffee, and “Meet me in Malawi.”
A Potluck Lunch to Welcome the Sbhatu Family will be held on Sunday, November 12th following worship. Bring a dish to share, and stay for food and fellowship with our new friends from Eritrea. (No pork, please!)
Saskatchewan’s Award-Winning Tenor, Spencer McKnight, will present “Songs of the Great War” at St. Andrew’s on Sunday, November 12th at 7:30 pm. Come hear songs that shaped the music of the first World War, including “Keep the Home Fires Burning” and “Danny Boy”. Admission: Adults $25, seniors $20.
InterChurch Health Ministries Fundraising Dinner: ICHM Saskatchewan is the local organization that provides training and support for parish nurses who work in our congregations and communities to nurture healing in body, mind, and spirit. You are invited to attend a fundraising dinner to support this vital ministry on Sunday, November 19th at Luther Tower (1223 Temperance St). Reception at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:00 pm. Come and enjoy a delicious meal, a beautiful view from the top of the tower, great musical entertainment by Jodie Giesbrecht (bluegrass gospel) and a chance to learn a little more about parish nursing. Get a free ticket by contacting Luella Moore. The evening will include an opportunity to support ICHM through a donation and a silent auction.
And looking ahead to December…
An Advent Art Show & Sale and Bake Sale will take place in St. Andrew’s lower hall on Saturday, December 2nd from 2:00-4:00 pm. All kinds of homemade edibles will be available, as well as art and other merchandise created by Saskatoon Native Circle Ministry artists. Donations of baking will be gratefully received. Baking may be dropped off any time after 11:00 am on December 2nd. If you are able to help with the sale, contact Sharon at 306-978-9577 or 306-281-4385. (Proceeds from the art sale will go to SNCM, and proceeds from the bake sale will go to St. Andrew’s general fund.)
Let’s Keep Our Directory Up to Date! If you’re new to St. Andrew’s, we’d love to include you in our directory! Please plan to have your photo taken in the church library following the worship service on Sunday, December 3rd (12:15-1:15 pm). No appointments necessary. (Directories are available from the church office for a suggested donation of $5.) Note: If you are already in the directory, but your photo needs updating, please take this opportunity to have your photo taken too.
